Refund & Cancellation Policy

This Refund & Cancellation Policy ("Policy") applies to purchases of subscriptions and digital services ("Services") offered by Teamtjie.

This Policy is governed by the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (Act 68 of 2008) ("CPA"), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 ("ECTA"), and related South African consumer protection laws.


1. Definitions

  • Consumer: A person who acquires Services from us for purposes not directly related to their trade, business, or profession.
  • Services: Subscription-based access to software or digital services provided by us.
  • Subscription: A paid plan that provides the Consumer with access to Services for a defined period.

2. Applicability

This Policy applies to all purchases of Services made by Consumers through our website or platform.


3. Digital Services & CPA Exceptions

Under the CPA and related law, digital services accessed immediately by a Consumer after purchase (including SaaS subscriptions) are not subject to a general "cooling-off" return right once the Consumer has:

  • Completed payment; and
  • Received access credentials or otherwise begun using the Services.

This is permitted under the CPA's exclusions for digital content once performance has begun with the Consumer's consent.


4. Refund Eligibility

Despite the above, refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:

a) Service Not Delivered as Agreed

If we fail to deliver access to the Services as promised (e.g., access was not provided, the platform was inaccessible through no fault of the Consumer), you may request a refund. We will assess on a case-by-case basis and may provide:

  • A full refund; or
  • A partial refund based on the extent of services not provided.

This aligns with the CPA's requirement that services must be performed timeously and as agreed.

b) Material Service Defect

If the Services are materially defective or do not function in accordance with the stated specifications, and we cannot reasonably remedy the problem within a reasonable timeframe, a refund may be issued at our discretion.


5. Change-of-Mind Refunds

For digital services, change-of-mind refunds (e.g., the Consumer decides they no longer want the Service or it does not meet expectations) are not automatically required under the CPA once access has been provided. However:

  • We may, in our discretion, offer refunds or credits as a customer-service policy.
  • Any such discretionary refunds are subject to review and approval by us.

6. Requesting a Refund

To request a refund, you must:

  1. Contact us in writing at support@teamtjie.co.za within 14 days of the transaction, stating:

    • Your name and contact details
    • Order ID or subscription details
    • Reason for refund request
  2. Provide any additional information or evidence reasonably requested by us.

We will respond to your request within 10 business days.

If a refund is approved, it will be processed within 30 days via the original payment method or another method agreed with you.


7. Cancellation of Subscriptions

a) Recurring Subscriptions

You may cancel recurring subscriptions at any time. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not generally provide refunds for unused subscription periods unless required by law or trial terms.

b) Free Trials

If a free trial is offered, you will not be charged if cancellation occurs before the trial expires.


8. No Impact on Statutory Rights

This Policy does not limit or exclude any rights a Consumer may have under the CPA, ECTA, or other applicable law.

For example, under the CPA:

  • Consumers may require the timely and proper performance of services; and
  • Where services are not rendered as agreed, Consumers may be entitled to a refund, price reduction, or re-performance of services.

9. Dispute Resolution

If you are not satisfied with our handling of your refund request, you may lodge a complaint with the National Consumer Commission or other relevant body in South Africa.
